An adaptation for children and adults based on the folk tale of the Carinthian Slovenes about the Turkish invasions of 1478 and the literary proposal of Dr. Jakob Sket. The legendary tale of Miklova Zala is a story about Slovenianness, love for the homeland and the Slovenian language, rebellion and courage, loyalty and kindness. Adapted with illustrations and pedagogical material and motifs from the Slovenian Ornament Collection by Jože Karlovšek.
After 139 years, Desa Muck has adapted the story for young readers, with illustrations by Gorazd Vahen and book design by Borut Dvornik. The educational material was written by Barbara Hanuš. Desa dedicated the book to the Carinthian Slovenes, for whom she says:
"The Slovenes who still live in these places today have always been particularly brave and upright. For centuries, they have tried to take away or at least ban their native language. They still have to fight for it today. We will help them the most if we ourselves take good care of it and protect it."
