The use of geometric motifs was characteristic of the style of architect and urban planner Maks Fabiani (1865–1962). The motif on one of the pencils comes from the facade of the Portois & Fix building, which Maks Fabiani designed in Vienna in 1909. The motif on the other pencil comes from the signature of architect Maks Fabiani.
