ECOLOGICAL FARMING (Part 1: Crop and Grass Production)
The area of agricultural land with organic production in Europe increased by 21 percent between 2016 and 2017, in Austria the share of this land is already 24 percent, while in Slovenia it is only around 10 percent.
At the Kmečki glas Publishing House, we have translated a very modern German book on organic farming with the aim of increasing organic production in our region.
original in 2018). It is also used by Austrian organic farmers, who are comparable to us in agriculture due to similar natural conditions.
In more than 200 pages, ecological crop production is carefully and thoroughly addressed, with all acceptable methods of growing individual crops described. Important chapters include: crop rotation, care for nutrients and organic matter in the soil, soil cultivation, plant protection, and weed control. For field crops and vegetables, technological sheets are added for easier production of individual plant species. A special chapter is dedicated to grassland, where individual meadow plants and their significance are described, with an emphasis on proper storage and preparation of quality feed.
