Anita Šumer received the prestigious Best of the Best Gourmand World Cookbook 2021 award for her book The Art of Bread Decorating.The awards ceremony, considered the Oscars of cookbooks, took place in the city of Umea, Sweden, and Anita Šumer's book won first place in a competition of 1,558 books from more than 200 countries. STENCILING - Truly the simplest way to decorate bread. I'll show you how to make your own stencil or use one you already have at home. In the book you'll find 3 types of stenciling step by step and I'll share tricks and tips with you to make your designs sharp, clear and long-lasting.

PAINTING ON DOUGH - Turn your dough or already baked bread into a real canvas for painting. Everything you need for this creation is written in this chapter: which dyes are best, when to apply them and with what.

SPREADS - You can quickly and easily spice up the appearance of bread with a variety of sprinkles. The book also contains ideas for creating motifs of various shapes and what you can use for them, as well as a recipe for the best leavening agent that will make your sprinkles stick to the dough like nails. I have collected 6 procedures for you, which are shown in words and pictures.

SLICING - This sharp artistic play is the most common way to decorate bread. And also the most extensive chapter in the book. You will also learn when the dough has risen properly, what angle of the incision is right, how deep the incision should be, what to do to prevent your bread from exploding during baking and to keep your motif intact. There are 6 different incision motifs described and illustrated.

BEAUTIFYING BREAD - A chapter where you decorate bread with dough decorations and even flowers. You'll learn how to prepare a special dough for making decorations, which flowers are most suitable and how to dry them to preserve their colors, when and how to apply them. Together we'll make a basket and fill it with flowers.

COMBINING ALL THE TECHNIQUES - Since the right order is important, this chapter covers just that. Based on the portrait from the cover and the sunflower bread, you will learn in which order to use the techniques that we have already mastered well.
