When Vladan Borojević types the name of his father Nedeljko, a former officer of the Yugoslav People's Army who supposedly died in the war, into Google, he unexpectedly uncovers a dark family secret that takes him back to 1991, when he heard the word "prekomanda" for the first time in his life and his idyllic childhood suddenly ended. Seventeen years later, the painful revelation will push Vladan on a journey through the Balkans to find his fugitive father, and in the process, discover how his family fell apart and why the world in which they once lived fell apart. The story of the Borojević family juxtaposes and contrasts images of the Balkans past and present, and above all, it tells of the tragic fates of people who failed to escape the war, even if they avoided its bombs.
