In Europe, tree nursery cultivation is among the most developed sectors of horticulture. Production occupies 85,000 hectares of land with an annual volume of 6,000 million euros.
Currently, domestic production in Slovenia is too weak to meet our needs. Consequently, we import a lot of ornamental and forest seedlings, which is extremely problematic if they are not grown in conditions similar to those in Slovenia. Such seedlings often grow very poorly and do not develop the height, shape, and appearance that they should.
