In other words – skiing is constantly evolving, at every step and in a slightly different way each time. There are no exceptions to this, neither in the competitive nor the recreational sense! I am not sure that everyone is aware of this, but I remain optimistic. However, remember: Learning to ski is a journey, not a destination!
To make the information presented more convincing and easier to understand, I will guide you through most of the content based on examples from my own practice.I present numerous problems and solutions in training modern skiing techniques and skiing in general. In my opinion, a proper understanding of training processes and content is one of the main keys to success.
In one of the chapters, Tina Maze – our most successful competitor of all time and a skier with whom I worked as a personal demonstrator during her independent journey – also talks about her sophisticated understanding of the technique and its details, which most often remain hidden from the eyes of the average observer. All of her statements are quotes taken from the film 7 to Heaven, in which we analyze together the most important "secrets" of performing top-notch turns. We called them modern skiing axioms.
I am sure that the book will be a welcome help to many athletes, ski enthusiasts, ski teachers and coaches, and for competitors it may be a shortcut to a better understanding and upgrading of their own technique. Let me emphasize right away that despite numerous successful experiences, there is no magic winning formula, and you will not find it in this book either; there are only more and less successful paths.
And a surprise! Since the basics of sports training are the same, regardless of the sport, in one of the chapters you will meet my good friend, the best Slovenian swimmer Sara Isakovič. Not only is she a proven top athlete as an Olympic silver medalist, Sara also successfully graduated from the American University of Berkeley in sports psychology. I invited her to participate and she responded with great pleasure. In the chapter Fears and Expectations, she shares her extraordinary experiences with you.
To make the book more useful, I designed the entire content as a kind of interweaving of different chapters, among which three stand out in particular:- Modern skiing axioms,
- UPS system: a direct path to learning modern skiing techniques and
- Learning competition techniques for younger categories.
Hardcover, 23.6 x 17.5 cm, 123 pages.
THEY SAID ABOUT THE BOOK:"The content is extremely modern, broad and, above all, superbly described, so it will be useful for both learning for beginners and training top competitors, from children's categories to adult skiers, individuals and groups. The author, with his work in the field, exceptional experience and current knowledge, unhesitatingly discovers novelties, points out changes and successfully transfers everything into the entire development pyramid. I can say that Muri is one of the few experts who is actually aware of the continuous development of everything related to alpine skiing!" - Filip Gartner, long-time coach of top World Cup competitors
"Rich knowledge, creativity and courage are the key words with which I can round off my thoughts and the introduction to this book, which bears the meaningful title "Being a master!". A content-rich collection of professional advice, with useful metaphors and names of ski services, will undoubtedly be of great help to teachers, ski coaches and the general public in discovering new dimensions of understanding competitive skiing." - Dr. Blaž Lešnik, President and Director of ZUTS Slovenia
