The interweaving of national and geometric motifs, characteristic of the ornamental style of architect Ivan Vurnik and academic painter Helena Kottler Vurnik, is also reflected in the umbrella patterns. The patterns are derived from the Art Nouveau ornaments of the Cooperative Economic Bank building at Miklošičeva Street 8 in Ljubljana.
