About the product: Spruce shoots are the light green tips of spruce branches. Every spring they brighten up the forests with their vibrant colour. We harvest them from early May until July, depending on weather conditions.
Spruce shoots have been attributed with medicinal properties for centuries - alleviating coughs and sore throats, disinfecting airways and soothing hoarseness. The main reason for this is that they contain a lot of vitamin C, which is known as an excellent antioxidant. Vitamin C strengthens your immune system and ensures the smooth running of many processes in the body.
At Dobrote Dolenjske, we produce spruce shoot liqueur. Freshly harvested shoots are steeped in a mixture of sugar, Pleterje Carthusian brandy and water. In a few days in the sun, the mixture transforms into a tasty and healthy liqueur.
