Comic book based on the novel by French writer Charles Nodier. The novel is a romantic bandit tale set in the Illyrian provinces, a lesser-known time but one of great importance to the Slovenian people. It was first published in Paris in 1818, then translated into Slovenian and reprinted in 2014.
The story could stir the imagination, and perhaps even attract the interest of a young historian, the rumors about the author Charles Nodier and his book are very interesting. The novel is said to have had a strong influence on later French writers (Hugo, Balsac ...), and even Napoleon, while in captivity on the island of St. Helena, is said to have read it and praised it.
The story of the Slovenian wrestler Janez Žbogar has remained relevant for over two centuries and is certainly interesting for the modern reader in comic form. The text for the first part was adapted by Aleksander J. Potočnik, while the second part is the work of Igor Ribič, who also drew the entire story.
