Max, the bravest lynx

MAX THE BRAVEST LYNX is a popular science educational story based on true events from the lives of lynxes that were transported to Slovenia from Romania and Slovakia as part of the international LIFE Lynx project in 2023. It is decorated with illustrations by Ana Šerbelj and 20 documentary color photographs.

The material has been reviewed and approved by experts from the LIFE Lynx project and the Slovenian Forest Service. The story is narrated by Max the lynx and takes the reader through his experiences from birth, an accident with a broken leg, recovery in Slovakia, relocation to Slovenia, life in an adaptation pen, release into the wild, encounters with other lynxes, searching for a mate, crossing a highway, fighting for territory and a female, encounters with hunting dogs and hunters.

It presents the efforts of the international community of Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Romania and Slovakia to preserve from further extinction this largest living cat in Europe, which is very important for maintaining the natural balance of roe deer. The content is suitable for all ages, and the English translation is especially recommended for English students in the last triad of primary schools.
