I love cooking, food, herbs, ingredients, pots, plates, utensils, and everything else that goes with it. I love summer days when my garden is ablaze with barbecue and I, at peace with myself and the world, turn a juicy steak on the grill. I love autumn, when I can gaze dreamily out my kitchen window and watch the first mists rising over the fields, and I can already smell the pumpkin soup simmering in the red pot.
I love winter, when the fire is crackling in our living room fireplace and beef soup is bubbling on the stove. And I love spring, because I know that the garden behind my house is waiting for my hands again. Make no mistake! It's not all romance, of course there are days in between when I don't like anything or anyone, but... sooner or later I get that longing associated with cooking again. If you also feel good "behind the stove", then this book invites you to leaf through it, try it out and, hopefully, soon make a mess, which will be the first sign that it is useful.
Hardcover, 20.3 x 25.6 cm, 240 pages.
"I'm very happy that the book has been published, but this is really not just my book, it's actually the book of the entire Polona ga žge team. We all worked hard on it and invested a lot of energy, time and love into it. I hope that those who buy it will also like it," said author Polona Požgan, describing her feelings upon the release of her first cookbook, Polona ga žge.
Polona says that the book is intended for amateur cooks, as she herself is one of them. The book contains her favorite homemade recipes that always come in handy.
"The book is definitely not aimed at quick weekday meal preparation. The recipes collected in the book are very diverse, and they are presented in a very colorful and clear way. Some dishes are prepared very quickly, while others require a little more time and are therefore perhaps more suitable for the weekend when we want to surprise our loved ones with delicious treats," says Polona, adding that her favorite recipe is for chocolate brownies.
"I have a very sweet tooth myself, and I also really love baking, especially things related to chocolate. These brownies are double chocolate and a great salvation for those days when we're a little stressed," the lovely Polona explains her choice with a laugh.
