Architect Živa Deu, Doctor of Architectural Sciences and the first full professor at the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana, has created a rich foundation for the preservation and revitalization of architectural heritage in Slovenia with her numerous books. In them, she highlights its diversity, subtle renovation, or new construction that takes into account the characteristics of our architecture, especially the architecture of residential houses in the countryside.

With his latest work, he continues the thematic series of books on the Architecture of the Slovenian Countryside, Renovation of Residential Buildings in the Slovenian Countryside, Renovation of Residential Buildings, and The Most Beautiful Renovated Houses in Slovenia and The Most Beautiful Renovated Houses in Slovenia 2. The monograph Houses for a Better Life opens the reader's path to understanding why Slovenian architectural heritage is so important and what renovated houses have that modern ones do not, through the presentation of twenty-one renovated and new houses.
