Paintings by Julije Karlovšek
Julija Karlovšek (1982) is creative at heart, a lover of all things beautiful, and an amateur painter. After a ten-year break, she has once again picked up the brush and embarked on a new, fresh path of artistic creation. The title of the exhibition is BEAUTY IN SLOVENIAN, where artworks created in the past year are presented.
The author is inspired by flowers, natural motifs, and lately especially Slovenian ornaments, primarily from the collection of ornaments of her late grandfather Jože Karlovšek (1900-1963). She likes to "breathe" colors into the ornaments and interprets them in a modern, suitable way for her. The technique she uses for painting is acrylic on canvas, but she also enjoys playing with other additions, such as structural paste, plaster, and gold leaf.
The art exhibition is intended to showcase her latest works, which have never been exhibited before, nor have they adorned the walls of homes. The author states that her paintings are meant not only to beautify our homes but also to provide positive energy therapy that we experience in the presence of the paintings. The author says that a painting "chooses" the space it will decorate and stays there as long as it is needed – possibly forever. Her previous paintings adorn several villas in Croatia, Switzerland, and her parents' home in Domžale.
The author lives and creates in Switzerland, where she regularly participates in painting workshops under the mentorship of painter Nacija Kocaslan.
